Real Wireless CTO Simon Fletcher today  (15th June 2018) attended the launch of the Digital Catapult’s “UK 5G Ecosystem Report”, the UK’s first ever 5G landscape report and online reference tool.

Commissioned by Innovate UK, the UK Government’s innovation agency, the report provides a first of its kind snapshot and barometer to help the UK Government and industry assess 5G activity and deliver on the UK’s 5G Strategy. With this holistic view in place, policy makers will be better positioned to progress the UK’s advancement in 5G, and realise the Government’s ambitious goal to begin rolling out commercial deployments of the network across the country by 2019.

Real Wireless is pleased to have delivered two of the series of studies which have supported Digital Catapult on the generation of this report.  The Real Wireless team included Caroline Gabriel, Simon Fletcher and Julie Bradford.  The team interviewed and collected views from stakeholders on the current state and need for 5G in the two verticals of AR/VR and manufacturing.

The team project manager, Julie Bradford, said, “We were delighted to be selected to deliver these two studies and to engage with and hear the perspective of those targeted to eventually use 5G services in the immersive technology and manufacturing industries.  Many studies propose 5G use cases from the technology push perspective but these studies very much focused on sense checking these against the real market pull situation and the current state of the technology to match this.”
